Well, the day is here. Election Day in the USA. The day the entire nation is invited out to voice their opinion about who is going to lead one of the most diverse nations on the planet. I know what you’re thinking, “NO SWINGDOM. NO! Do NOT get into politics.
We’re not, really. I promise. Sort of…
Our man, Jack, has recently come out in support of one candidate over another. After his new-found-love of all things Twitter, the Gold Bear has created a whirlwind of support and controversy around his voting preferences. Here’s what I (Gunnar) have to say about it:
Jack Nicklaus is a golf legend, old, rich, white dude, and the most decorated major winner of all time. He’s also, and most importantly in this discussion, an American. He can vote for whomever he damn-well pleases.
SO CAN YOU!
Are you a citizen of the United States of America? Are you registered to vote? Then stop complaining about who others vote for and go fill out a ballot!
Now, with all that being said, I have one major rule when it comes to voting for a public office: Vote for the best interest of the people they serve, not the party they represent.
Easy for me to say, I know, but it really is that simple. And maybe Mr. Nicklaus feels like his guy is the best for the people (I hope he does), or maybe he feels like that’s the best guy for himself (that’s fine too!), so don’t go on social media bemoaning who people back today and GO VOTE! Not everybody gets that privilege.
